I love the look of a beautiful jewelry box atop a dresser or vanity. However, you’re a fan of small, delicate necklaces, or long pendants you probably share my struggle --they always get tangled up in your box or drawer. A jewelry organizer that you can hang each piece onto is the clear solution to this issue. They’re easy to find at home decor stores; the one problem? They’re completely overpriced. If you subscribe to my personal philosophy: “Why buy when you can DIY” try out this simple hack for a cost-effective easy way to keep your jewelry organized.

This easy DIY is inspired by a similar pin I saw, only they used a small tree branch/ sticks to make the base. Sticks and branches are ideal for a rustic look, but I wanted simple clean lines, so I purchased some wooden rods at the craft store.

Project Must Haves:

Knot & Bow Twine

Wooden Craft rods of your desired length

Acrylic Paint

Aaand that’s all you need! Did I mention this project is insanely easy?

First, paint the wooden rod any color of your choosing.

Get started by measuring out the twine. I chose to measure out the twine to be roughly twice the size of the rod, plus 5-6 extra inches to leave room for tying the knots on each side of the rod. I used twine from one of my favorite brands, Knot & Bow. They come in so many cute colors, and even glitter, like the twine I used for this project.

Next, paint the wooden rod any color of your chosen. I chose to paint it white, to go with a nice clean modern look that will pair well with the rest of my bedroom decor. If you’d like to leave wood unpainted for a more natural look, that works too! The great thing about easy DIY projects like these, is how easily customized they are. You could use any kind of leather, rope or string.

Next, secure the twine to the rod by tying a knot. Wrap the twine around the rod around 10 times, or as many as it takes for the rod to feel the same. Tie another knot before moving on to the next side. Refer to the picture below if you’re more of a visual learner, like I am.

To mount it to the wall, I recommend using a nail or a hanging hook. After that, you can begin hanging your necklaces on the rod! I wouldn’t recommend hanging anything too bulky or heavy. This is ideal for small delicate Kendra Scott, and Dogeared, and even chokers. I'd love to see you guys re-create my project. Let me know how it goes, and share your pics with me!
